NY State Health Dept. Tackles HAIs

Congratulations to the New York State Health Department for issuing a report that discloses which hospitals are more or less likely to discharge patients with a HAI. This report is incredibly important because it clues the public in to a nasty reality: hospitals aren't always safe. Annually, HAIs sicken millions of Americans and kills some 99,000. But the good news is that virtually all HAIs are preventable!! But only if staff take precautions like washing hands, following proper hygiene, and changing gowns between patients. The report is also important because it will motivate hospitals to clean up their act.
